Outdoor pitches set the stage for one of our most competitive divisions. Mens and womens brackets run in parallel — round-robin group play feeds a single-elimination championship bracket on Sunday.
Soccer at SHNY is where speed meets skill. Two days of competition on outdoor pitches, with teams traveling from across California and the Pacific Northwest.
Mens and womens divisions run in parallel throughout the weekend. Saturday is round-robin group play — every team gets multiple matches and a fair shot at the bracket. Sunday is single-elimination, with the championship final closing out the tournament on the main pitch.
The 7v7 format keeps matches fast-paced and accessible. Smaller rosters, more touches per player, and tighter games — well-suited to community tournament play without sacrificing the competitive edge.
Teams divided into groups of 4. Each team plays the other three teams in their group. Three points for a win, one for a draw.
Top two from each group advance to Sunday's knockout bracket. Tiebreakers by head-to-head, then goal difference, then goals scored.
Single elimination. Quarterfinals, semifinals, then the final. Draws after regulation go to extra time, then penalty kicks if needed.
FIFA rules with SHNY modifications. Unlimited substitutions on the half. Yellow card accumulation across pool play carries into bracket play.
All players must be 16+ and on the team's official roster by the Friday deadline. Cleats required. Shin guards mandatory.
Certified referees officiate every match. Match disputes go to the tournament director — whose decision is final. No video review.
Captains report to the tournament tent. Roster verification, rules review, match schedule distribution. Captains relay information to teams.
Both divisions kick off simultaneously. Matches run across multiple pitches throughout the day with scheduled breaks.
Final group standings posted. Sunday's bracket released to all teams. Pitch assignments and kickoff times confirmed.
Quarterfinals open the day. Each round produces drama — single elimination doesn't forgive a bad first half.
Both division finals played back-to-back on the main pitch. Trophy presentations and prize ceremony follow the second whistle.
