What We Do
Established since 2004, the Sacramento Hmong New Year expects about 30,000 attendees each year, making it one of the largest cultural festivals here in the United States!
We are passionate about bringing people together through the celebration of Hmong culture. Each year, we host the Sacramento Hmong New Year celebration, a vibrant multi-day event showcasing the best of Hmong traditions. From lively music and dance performances to educational workshops, cultural exhibits, and competitions. We offer a unique experience that highlights the rich heritage of the Hmong community while fostering connections and understanding across cultures. This year, we celebrate our 19th annual festival here at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California. This is where the fun begins!
The Sacramento Hmong New Year is more than just a gathering; it’s a cherished tradition that brings families and friends together. It serves as a special time for courtship, fostering connections between individuals in our close-knit community, a practice that has enriched our culture for centuries.
As you explore the festival, you’ll have the opportunity to meet inspiring community leaders, city officials, entrepreneurs, and talented artists from across the United States. Immerse yourself in the vibrant beauty of our culture and heritage.
We are excited to present a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy, including a ball tossing tournament, volleyball, corn-hole, and golf tournaments. The highlights of our festival will showcase our beauty pageant, dance competition, and idol competition, celebrating the talents within our community.

My name is Xao Vue, your Vice President of Sacramento Hmong New Year, Inc. I welcome each and everyone of you with warmth and sincerity as we gather and celebrate our Annual Hmong New Year Festival in the heart of California, Sacramento. It is truly an honor to invite you to partake in the joyous festivities we have planned for this special occasion.
This year is an exciting year as all communities all around the United States are coming together to celebrate the holidays with families, friends and loved ones. The Hmong New Year symbolized a great point where we all come together to have a safe and fun exploring the richness of our Hmong Heritage, cultures and traditions.
I would like to give you an idea of what’s to expect at this year’s festival. This year we will feature a beauty pageant, traditional dance, breakdance contest, idol competition, men/women volleyball, corn-hole, golf and traditional ball toss competition along with traditional singing( kwv txhiaj).
I truly encourage you to explore the various activities, engage with the community and revel in the unique experiences that this festival has to offer. Let this be a time of celebration, reflection and the forging of new connections.
